Frequently Asked Questions
What is Craniosacral Therapy?
Craniosacral Therapy (CST) is a gentle, hands-on treatment that helps your body relax, release tension patterns, and heal naturally. It focuses on the craniosacral system — which includes the bones of the skull, spine, and pelvis, as well as the membranes and fluid that surround and protect your central nervous system.
The craniosacral system is deeply connected to your entire body. When there are imbalances or restrictions — from stress, injury, inflammation, or trauma — they can affect how you feel, physically and emotionally. Similarly, tension or imbalance in other parts of the body can also impact this system.
During a CST session, your practitioner uses a very light touch to find and gently release areas of tension or restriction. This may include working with the head, spine, ribs, pelvis, or other areas of the body to restore natural movement and flow.
CST is a whole-person approach. In addition to easing specific symptoms — it helps your entire body find balance, supporting your nervous system, and promoting long-term wellness.
What is Tensegrity Medicine?
Tensegrity Medicine is a gentle, hands-on approach that focuses on releasing tension patterns in the fascia — the connective tissue that surrounds and supports every part of your body, including muscles, bones, nerves, blood vessels, and organs.
Tensegrity, a word created by the combining the words "tension" and "integrity," is a natural structural principle found in nature. Tensegrity Medicine views the body as a tensegrity structure — where bones are suspended and supported by a continuous network of fascia. This creates a system that is both stable and flexible. When this system is in balance, the body is adaptable and resilient. But when there are restrictions or imbalances in the fascia, it can limit movement, reduce flexibility, and eventually lead to pain or dysfunction.
Tensegrity Medicine uses gentle touch and bodymind awareness techniques to identify and release these holding patterns in the fascia. By doing so, it helps restore ease, balance, and function to the entire body — not just at the site of pain, but throughout the whole system.
What is "Somatic" Therapy?
Somatic therapy is a holistic approach that supports the natural connection between your body and mind. It’s based on the understanding that our physical and emotional experiences are deeply interconnected and cannot be separated. Somatic therapy invites you to slow down, listen to your body, and reconnect with yourself — offering a gentle and empowering path to healing.
Both Craniosacral Therapy and Tensegrity Medicine are forms of somatic therapy. In a session, your practitioner may use gentle, hands-on techniques along with supportive tools like conversation, guided imagery, or curiosity questions. These approaches help you tune into your body’s wisdom, uncover the root causes of tension patterns and pain, and create space for deeper awareness and healing.
How can Craniosacral Therapy and Tensegrity Medicine help me?
Craniosacral Therapy and Tensegrity Medicine can support healing for a wide range of concerns, including: migraines and headaches, spine and joint pain, jaw tension or TMJ dysfunction, stress and anxiety, post-surgical discomfort, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue, scoliosis, concussions and brain injuries, and more. These gentle, whole-body therapies help restore pain-free movement, improve muscle balance and flexibility, support better posture, and enhance overall bodymind wellness.
What is a session like at Craniosacral Therapy and Wellness?
Each session begins with a conversation about your primary concerns and relevant health history. Your therapist will then gently assess specific areas of your body using hands-on techniques to help identify areas of restriction or imbalance. You’ll remain fully clothed and lie comfortably on a treatment table while your therapist uses gentle, targeted fascia release techniques to support healing. When helpful, self-leadership coaching may be included to deepen the connection between your body and mind. If needed, the session may end with simple integrative movement to help your body absorb and integrate the work. Sessions with Sara typically last about 90 minutes and sessions with Jeremiah last about 60 minutes.
What can I expect for outcomes?
Craniosacral Therapy and Tensegrity Medicine can help reduce pain, improve movement, and support a deeper connection between your body and mind — all of which contribute to better overall health and a higher quality of life.

How many sessions will I need?
Everyone’s healing journey is unique, but most clients find that 8 to 12 sessions provide the best results. After that, many choose to space out their sessions as needed for ongoing support.
While we always encourage trying one session to see how it feels for you, it’s important to know that one session is rarely enough to fully address the deeper layers of tension and imbalance in the body. Healing can take time — and we’re here to support you through that process.
Our ultimate goal is to help you feel better, move with ease, and reach a point where you don’t need us anymore!
Do you take insurance?
Craniosacral Therapy and Wellness is a health and wellness clinic specializing in fascial evaluation and treatment, which is not covered by health insurance. Because of this, we do not bill insurance and payment is due at the time of service.
Where are you located?
Craniosacral Therapy and Wellness is located at 782 Johnnie Dodds Blvd, Suite H3 (inside of "The Center of Well-Being"), in Mt. Pleasant, SC. See the location page for more details!
I tried to get on the schedule, but don't see any available slots. What do I do?
The schedule tends to fill up quickly, but occasionally slots become available. If you don’t see a time that works for you, feel free to join the waitlist — you’ll receive automatic text alerts as soon as a spot becomes available.
Want to plan ahead and book regular sessions? We’d love to help with that! Just reach out to Sara at [email protected] to set up a schedule that works for you.
Do you treat children?
Sometimes. Sara occasionally works with children, but only under specific circumstances. If the child is over the age of 2 and is the child of an adult client that Sara already treats, it’s more likely that she can accommodate them—especially if they are experiencing relatively straightforward concerns like headaches, joint pain, or anxiety. Sara does not treat children under 2 years old or those with more complex medical diagnoses. Additionally, it's good to know that an adult needs to be present in the room during any child session. Please also note that the standard cancellation policy applies to children’s appointments as well, which can be challenging due to the unpredictability of childhood illness and scheduling. If Sara's not the right fit, she'd be happy to refer you to a pediatric Craniosacral Therapist who specializes in this type of care.
